Grammarly Price in India: Rupee Plans vs Student Discount
Grammarly price in India on 4 Nov 2026: Rs 999 a month or Rs 4,699 a year on Apple's App Store, Plus at Rs 392, and why the student discount fits neither.
Can a student in India take Grammarly’s student discount and the rupee price in the iPhone app together? Grammarly’s help centre says no: its promo offers “cannot be applied to previous purchases or purchases made via the App Store or Google Play Store”, and its region-specific Plus plan “isn’t compatible with special offers or discounts”. That leaves the Grammarly price in India as a choice, and the two rupee prices I could read both sit outside the student discount, so I would settle the discount question before looking at either price.
As of 4 November 2026, Apple’s India App Store lists Grammarly’s in-app plans at ₹999 a month, ₹1,999 a quarter and ₹4,699 a year, and Grammarly’s India page offers Grammarly Plus for “₹392 INR” without naming a billing period. Neither price takes the SheerID student discount, which applies to Grammarly Pro.
| Checkout | Plan name there | Rupee price shown, 4 November 2026 | SheerID student discount | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apple App Store, India | Premium | ₹999 a month, ₹1,999 a quarter, ₹4,699 a year | No | Apple’s India listing, Grammarly’s SheerID offer article |
| Google Play, India | Premium | No per-plan price in the listing text | No | Google Play India listing |
| grammarly.com/a/india | Plus | ”₹392 INR”, no billing period stated | No | Grammarly’s India page, About Grammarly Plus article |
| grammarly.com/upgrade/pro | Pro | Grammarly says the rate and currency are “displayed during checkout” | Yes, up to 50% off for one period | Grammarly Pro cost article |
| Your school’s licence | Grammarly for Education | No checkout of your own: you join the school’s licence | Not applicable | Grammarly for Education article |
Grammarly’s Plus article says the pricing options for your region show on grammarly.com/plans, so that page’s currency and plan names can differ by where it is loaded. In a 7 September 2026 capture for the tier-name audit, Grammarly’s pricing page was geo-served in rupees with tiers named Free / Plus / Enterprise. The copy I read on 4 November 2026 showed US dollars and listed Free, Pro and Enterprise. Prices and plan names change, so read each figure on its own checkout on the day you pay.
Grammarly Price in India on Apple’s App Store
Apple’s India listing for “Grammarly: AI Keyboard & Voice” shows three rupee prices: ₹999 for the Monthly Plan, ₹1,999 for the Quarterly Plan and ₹4,699 for the Annual Plan, as of 4 November 2026. The app is free to download, and the developer and provider is Superhuman Platform Inc.
- The In-App Purchases list carries ten entries with only those three prices: Annual Plan five times, Monthly Plan three times and Quarterly Plan twice. Apple does not say why names repeat, so the price on the confirmation screen is the one to trust.
- The item names do not say which plan they buy. The listing’s description does: “Further improve your writing with Grammarly Premium”.
- Apple bills the subscription: “payments will be charged to the account associated with your Apple ID”, and it renews “unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.”
- Refunds go through Apple. Grammarly’s refund article says to “contact Apple to request a refund” for App Store purchases, and that otherwise refunds “are issued only if required by law”.
On Apple’s prices, the annual plan costs less than twelve months of the monthly plan by ₹7,289:
| App Store plan, India | Price | Twelve months on this plan | Saving against monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly Plan | ₹999 | 12 x ₹999 = ₹11,988 | None |
| Quarterly Plan | ₹1,999 | 4 x ₹1,999 = ₹7,996 | ₹3,992 (33.3%) |
| Annual Plan | ₹4,699 | ₹4,699, about ₹391.58 a month | ₹7,289 (60.8%) |
How long you expect to keep it decides the plan. Totals on Apple’s India prices, paying in whole billing periods:
| Months you keep it | Monthly | Quarterly | Annual | Lowest total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | ₹999 | ₹1,999 | ₹4,699 | Monthly |
| 2 | ₹1,998 | ₹1,999 | ₹4,699 | Monthly, by ₹1 |
| 3 | ₹2,997 | ₹1,999 | ₹4,699 | Quarterly |
| 4 | ₹3,996 | ₹3,998 | ₹4,699 | Monthly, by ₹2 |
| 5 to 6 | ₹4,995 to ₹5,994 | ₹3,998 | ₹4,699 | Quarterly |
| 7 to 9 | ₹6,993 to ₹8,991 | ₹5,997 | ₹4,699 | Annual |
| 12 | ₹11,988 | ₹7,996 | ₹4,699 | Annual |
Apple’s rule that its prices outside the US and Canada include tax is quoted in my Canva Pro price check, and the payment methods Apple lists for India, UPI among them, are in my comparison of Claude’s App Store and web checkouts in India.
Google Play India
Google Play’s India listing, “Grammarly-AI Writing Assistant”, shows “In-app purchases” and 5Cr+ downloads, names Superhuman Platform Inc. under About the developer, and names “Grammarly Premium” in its description. The listing text names no plan price, and the page footer says “All prices include GST.” On Android, read the price on the upgrade screen inside the app.
Grammarly Premium vs Pro vs Plus: Three Names, Three Checkouts
Grammarly sells the paid plan under three names, and each name belongs to a checkout. Its Learn about Grammarly Pro article says “Grammarly Premium is available through the App Store and Google Play”, while Pro is “Available via web purchase”. Plus is “a region-specific plan available in select countries”, per the About Grammarly Plus article.
| Plan | Where Grammarly sells it | AI prompts a month | Team seats | Takes the SheerID offer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Website and apps | 100 | Not applicable | Not applicable |
| Premium | App Store and Google Play | 1,000 | Individual, no team features or admin controls | No |
| Pro | Website | 2,000 per member | Up to 149 | Yes |
| Plus | Website, in “select countries” | 2,000 | Up to 149 | No |
| Enterprise | Contact sales, “available through Superhuman Go” | Unlimited per member | ”For larger organizations” | Not applicable |
The Free, Pro and Enterprise rows come from Grammarly’s plans page, Premium’s from the Learn about Grammarly Pro article, and Plus’s from the About Grammarly Plus article. What the renames mean for a buyer:
- Pro replaced Premium and Business on the web. Grammarly’s trial article says “Grammarly Pro replaces Grammarly Premium and Grammarly Business plans”, and the Learn about Grammarly Pro article says Premium bought on Grammarly’s website is upgraded to Pro “at no extra cost”, gradually.
- App Store and Google Play Premium stays as it is: “your Premium plan isn’t changing.” Pro “is currently not available” to Premium customers who bought through either store.
- Plus is closed to anyone on another paid plan, “such as Grammarly Premium, Pro, Business, or Grammarly for Education.” To switch, Grammarly says to cancel, wait for the plan to end, then buy Plus at grammarly.com/upgrade/plus “if your billing country and payment details meet eligibility requirements.”
- The company behind the plans has changed too. Several of Grammarly’s help articles carry the note “Grammarly is now part of Superhuman”, which is also the developer name on both app listings.
Grammarly Plus Price in India: What Grammarly’s India Page Shows
Grammarly’s India page, headed “Advanced English writing support, built for India”, offers Grammarly Plus for “₹392 INR”, as of 4 November 2026. The page’s text has no billing period: the words month, year and annual do not appear on it, and its “Get Grammarly Plus” buttons link to grammarly.com/plans. Read the billing period behind ₹392 at checkout.
- Plus comes in “monthly, quarterly, and annual subscriptions”, and the Plus article adds that “Grammarly Plus plans are billed as one payment.”
- The About Grammarly Plus article gives no rupee figure. It says “the cost may vary by region” and that “Grammarly Plus is offered at a lower regional price than Grammarly Pro at a discounted global price.”
- Eligibility depends on your billing details: Plus “is available to customers whose payment method and billing country match one of the regions where Grammarly Plus is offered.” If you do not qualify, “Grammarly Pro also remains available at a fixed global price”.
On tax, Grammarly’s tax article says it “may charge applicable taxes based on your billing address”, shown either “as a separate fee or included in the subscription cost”. The India page says nothing about GST.
Grammarly has a help article for one renewal problem with Indian cards. Its article on Indian credit cards says a failed renewal is “most likely” due to a Reserve Bank of India regulation “that all renewal payments need to be approved by the customer”, and the fix is to re-enter the card under Payment Method on the Subscription page, or to use another card or PayPal.
Grammarly Student Discount in India: The SheerID Rules
Grammarly’s SheerID offer article says eligible users can save up to 50% on Grammarly Pro through SheerID. It states the saving in US dollars and gives no rupee figure. The rules, in Grammarly’s words:
- Who: nine groups, from “Grammarly for Students” and “Grammarly for Graduate Students” to K-12 and university educators, young adults, military, first responders, healthcare workers and seniors.
- Proof: SheerID “may ask you to provide an official document issued by your organization or institution”, and “This process can take up to seven business days.” Approval arrives as a promo link from verify@sheerid.com.
- How long: “valid for one subscription period only. If you upgrade at a promotional rate, your subscription will be set to renew at a standard rate.”
- Seats: “Promo offers apply to the first seat only.”
- Stacking: offers “cannot be combined with other offers, and cannot be applied to previous purchases or purchases made via the App Store or Google Play Store.”
Neither the SheerID offer article nor Grammarly’s article for schools missing from the list names any country, so they do not settle whether a particular Indian college is accepted. The school field on the application form is where that shows. If your school does not appear, the second article says to keep typing its full name without abbreviations, or ask SheerID to add it; “SheerID will review your request within 30 days”. A “Verification Limit Exceeded” error means “an application in your name has already been received this year.”
The order matters for an iPhone buyer. A student who subscribes in the app at ₹4,699 cannot apply the offer to that purchase afterwards, and Grammarly’s Pro article says Pro “is currently not available” to Premium customers who bought through the App Store or Google Play.
If your college has a Grammarly for Education licence, Grammarly says students join it through the school’s identity provider, such as Okta, Microsoft Entra ID or Google Workspace, or by signing up with a school email at grammarly.com/enterprise/signup. Adobe takes a different route in India, printing a rupee student price on its own India site, which my Adobe student plan breakdown sets against the renewal rate.
Does a Grammarly Promo Code Work?
No, not a code you found online. Grammarly’s discounts article says “Grammarly does not provide discounts in the form of coupons or other codes. If you found a promo code online, it is not a promotional offer from Grammarly.”
Grammarly names two discount channels:
- Occasional promotional offers to some email subscribers, which you opt into through special-offer emails on your Profile page.
- The SheerID offers above.
Both carry the same rules: one subscription period, first seat only, no combining, and no App Store or Google Play purchases.
Is Grammarly Free? The Free Plan, the Trial and Plagiarism Checks
Yes. Grammarly’s Free plan checks spelling and grammar, shows your writing tone and includes 100 AI prompts a month, per the plans page on 4 November 2026.
| Feature on the plans page | Free | Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Write without mistakes, see your writing tone | Yes | Yes |
| Adjust tone, rewrite full sentences, write fluently in English | No | Yes |
| Detect AI-generated text, catch accidental plagiarism | No | Yes |
| AI prompts | 100 a month | 2,000 per member a month |
- Free trial: “We do periodically offer free trials of Grammarly Pro for individual subscribers and teams”, and when one is running, the option appears on the website before you upgrade. The plans page copy I read carried a “Start 7-day Free Trial” button and an “Email reminder 2 days before trial ends”; the trial article states no length.
- Plagiarism checker price in India: the plans page lists no separate price for it. Plagiarism detection comes with a paid plan: Pro on the plans page, and Premium and Plus in Grammarly’s articles on those plans. In rupees, that means the App Store’s ₹999 a month for Premium or Plus at the price your checkout shows.
Which Grammarly Route Fits You
| You are | Route | What you pay, as of 4 November 2026 |

| A student or educator whose institution SheerID accepts | Pro on the web, through the SheerID promo link, before any app purchase | Up to 50% off for one subscription period, then the standard rate |
| An iPhone user who wants Apple to bill you | Premium in the app | ₹999 a month, ₹1,999 a quarter or ₹4,699 a year |
| An Android user | Premium in the app | The price on the in-app upgrade screen |
| A writer whose billing country and payment method qualify for Plus | Plus on the web | ”₹392 INR” on Grammarly’s India page, no billing period stated there |
| A team lead buying seats | Plus or Pro, up to 149 members; Premium has no team features | Additional seats at the standard rate |
| An occasional writer | Free | Nothing, with 100 AI prompts a month |
If you are pricing other writing subscriptions in rupees too, I list every ChatGPT plan in rupees, from Go to Business, with GST and web UPI marked plan by plan.
Grammarly Price in India: Settle the Discount Question First
The Grammarly price in India has two rupee answers on 4 November 2026: ₹999, ₹1,999 or ₹4,699 on Apple’s India App Store, and “₹392 INR” for Plus on Grammarly’s India page. Neither takes the student discount, which Grammarly gives on Pro, for one period, and never on App Store or Google Play purchases.
Recheck these on the day you pay, since each one changes:
- Apple’s India listing, for the three in-app prices
- Grammarly’s India page and your checkout, for the Plus price and its billing period
- The SheerID application form, for whether your institution is listed
If you qualify for the SheerID offer, apply before you tap Subscribe in the app.
