ChatGPT Subscription Price in India: Every Plan in Rupees
ChatGPT subscription price in India, plan by plan: Go Rs 399 to Pro 500 Rs 52,900 a month, GST, UPI, yearly billing and the one plan at half the per-dollar rate.
The ChatGPT subscription price in India runs from ₹399 a month for Go through ₹1,999 for Plus up to ₹52,900 for Pro 500, GST included, as I read OpenAI’s prices on 16 October 2026. Take the 18% GST out and set each plan against its pre-tax US dollar price, and Go breaks the pattern: it works out to ₹42.27 per dollar, while Plus, the three Pro tiers and Business all sit between ₹84.32 and ₹90.67 per dollar.
I see Go as the outlier in OpenAI’s India lineup, with every plan above it priced near its US price. At RBI’s reference rate for 9 October 2026, ₹96.6149 per dollar (tick USD and enter the date in its form), Go’s India price before GST is about 44% of its US price, and every other plan’s is 87% to 94%.
Read logged out from India on 16 October 2026, ChatGPT costs ₹399 a month for Go, ₹1,999 for Plus and ₹10,699, ₹19,900 or ₹52,900 for Pro 100, 200 or 500, GST included. Business is ₹2,250 per user a month, or ₹1,800 a month billed annually, plus 18% GST. Web UPI covers Go and Plus only.
| Plan | Web, GST included | Web, before GST | Apple App Store, India | US price, pre-tax | Before-GST rupees per pre-tax dollar | UPI on the web | Annual billing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Go | ₹399 | ₹338.14* | ₹399 | $8 | 42.27 | Yes | No |
| Plus | ₹1,999 | ₹1,694.07 | ₹1,999 | $20 | 84.70 | Yes | No |
| Pro 100 | ₹10,699 | ₹9,066.95 | ₹10,699 | $100 | 90.67 | No | No |
| Pro 200 | ₹19,900 | ₹16,864.41 | ₹19,900 | $200 | 84.32 | No | No |
| Pro 500 | ₹52,900 | ₹44,830.51* | ₹52,900 | $500 | 89.66 | No | No |
| Business, per user, billed monthly | ₹2,655* | ₹2,250 | Not listed | $25 | 90.00 | No | Available (next row) |
| Business, per user, billed annually | ₹2,124* a month | ₹1,800 a month | Not listed | $20 a month | 90.00 | No | Yes, paid for the year |
*My arithmetic at the file’s 18% GST. The file gives no before-GST figure for Go or Pro 500, and it quotes Business before GST.
Sources Behind Each Price, Read 16 October 2026
The master table’s columns come from these pages:
| Column | Source |
|---|---|
| Web, with and before GST | The per-country file that OpenAI’s pricing page requests for India, https://chatgpt.com/backend-anon/checkout_pricing_config/configs/IN. It lists INR, the tax type “gst” at 18%, Go, Plus and Pro as tax “inclusive” and Business as tax “exclusive”. It is undocumented and can change without notice. |
| Apple App Store, India | The In-App Purchases list on Apple’s India listing for ChatGPT, provider OpenAI OpCo, LLC. The listing has no tax wording, and Apple’s 2023 talk on App Store pricing says “Prices advertised to customers in all countries except the U.S. and Canada include taxes”. |
| US price, pre-tax | OpenAI’s Work and Codex pricing page. The US version of the same file marks every dollar price tax-exclusive. |
| Before-GST rupees per pre-tax dollar | The before-GST rupee price divided by the pre-tax dollar price, my arithmetic. |
| UPI on the web | OpenAI’s multi-currency billing article: “UPI is available for Go and Plus plans. It is not offered for Pro or Business plans at this time.” |
| Annual billing | The pricing page’s FAQ, plus OpenAI’s Go article and its Plus and Pro tiers articles |
I also loaded chatgpt.com/pricing in a clean Chrome session with no ChatGPT login, on a connection Cloudflare’s trace placed in India (loc=IN). The Individual tab showed ₹0, ₹399, ₹1,999 and “From ₹10,699” a month, and the Business & Enterprise tab showed ₹1,800 per user a month billed annually and ₹2,250 billed monthly. Neither tab printed a tax line. The page names no Pro tier beyond “Your choice of 3 usage tiers”, so the Pro 200 and Pro 500 rupee prices in the table come from the file and from Apple’s listing.
How to read the per-dollar column:
- Compare like with like. GST adds 18% in India, and the US prices exclude sales tax, so a GST-inclusive rupee price set against a pre-tax dollar price overstates the Indian price.
- The chart’s reference line is RBI’s ₹96.6149 per dollar for 9 October 2026. A plan on that line would cost the same in India before GST as in the US before sales tax.
What the checkout changes:
- The India file and Apple’s India listing give the same rupee price for each of the five individual plans. Google Play’s India listing shows only one range, ₹399.00 to ₹52,900.00 per item, and says “All prices include GST.”
- The checkout decides who bills you and how you can pay. The multi-currency article says an app subscription “is managed by the Apple App Store or Google Play”, and both stores list UPI for India: Apple’s payment methods page, published 4 August 2026, and Google Play’s, which says “Google Play supports UPI for all providers.”
- You cancel where you paid. OpenAI’s Pro tiers article says to cancel “through the platform where you purchased your subscription”.
ChatGPT Go and Plus Price in India
Go is ₹399 a month and Plus ₹1,999 on the web and on Apple’s India listing, as of 16 October 2026. Before 18% GST they are ₹338.14 and ₹1,694.07. Both accept UPI on the web, and both bill monthly.
- Go launched in India at that price. OpenAI’s release notes of 18 August 2025 introduced it “For ₹399/month (GST included)”, for users in India only at first, payable “by credit card or UPI”.
- Go is not free for new sign-ups: OpenAI’s release notes say India’s 12-month offer had ended as of 21 January 2026. If you redeemed it, what happens when the free Go year ends covers the renewal charge and how to cancel.
- Plus costs ₹1,600 a month more than Go. What that buys, row by row from OpenAI’s pricing table, is in my ChatGPT Go vs Plus vs Pro comparison, which works in US dollars.
- If the alternative is Claude, ChatGPT Plus set against Claude Pro is its own comparison, and Claude’s rupee prices by checkout include a section on how ChatGPT Go compares.
ChatGPT Plus Price in India for 1 Year
OpenAI’s own billing has no yearly Plus plan. Its Plus article says: “Currently, we do not support annual billing or the option to pay for multiple months in advance for ChatGPT Plus subscriptions.” The Go article says the same for “ChatGPT Go, Plus, or Pro”, and the pricing page’s FAQ reads: “We offer monthly plans for Go, Plus and Business and annual plans for Business and Enterprise.”
| A year of | Twelve web payments | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Go | 12 x ₹399 = ₹4,788 | Monthly, automatic |
| Plus | 12 x ₹1,999 = ₹23,988 | Monthly, automatic |
Two other figures can look like a yearly Plus price, and no page I read confirms either one as that:
- Apple’s India listing carries a second “ChatGPT Plus” purchase at ₹19,900 beside the ₹1,999 one, and the listing does not say what period it covers. It is absent from the archived copies of 24 January, 3 May and 15 May 2025 and present in every copy I read from 15 June 2025 on. Check the billing period on Apple’s purchase screen before buying it.
- The India file holds a Plus “year” entry of ₹1,665.83 a month. None of OpenAI’s pages that I read offers that plan.
ChatGPT Pro Price in India: Pro 100 vs Pro 200 vs Pro 500
ChatGPT Pro is three monthly plans, Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500, priced at $100, $200 and $500 in OpenAI’s Pro tiers article and at ₹10,699, ₹19,900 and ₹52,900 a month with GST in India, as of 16 October 2026.
| Pro 100 | Pro 200 | Pro 500 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price a month in India, GST included | ₹10,699 | ₹19,900 | ₹52,900 |
| More than the plan below it | ₹8,700 over Plus | ₹9,201 over Pro 100 | ₹33,000 over Pro 200 |
| Multiple of the plan below in rupees (in dollars) | 5.35 times Plus (5 times) | 1.86 times Pro 100 (2 times) | 2.66 times Pro 200 (2.5 times) |
| Ultrafast | Not included | Not included | Included |
| How OpenAI describes it | ”Built for longer, high-intensity Codex sessions" | "more usage than Pro 100" | "the highest included usage of the three plans” |
| Twelve monthly payments | ₹1,28,388 | ₹2,38,800 | ₹6,34,800 |
The Pro 100 description is from the 9 April 2026 release note that introduced the $100 plan, and the other two are from the Pro tiers article.
What the rupee prices and the article add up to for a buyer in India:
- The steps differ from the dollar steps because each tier sits at its own rate per dollar before GST: ₹90.67 for Pro 100, ₹84.32 for Pro 200 and ₹89.66 for Pro 500. Moving up from Pro 100 to Pro 200 costs relatively less in India than in the US, and moving from Pro 200 to Pro 500 relatively more.
- Pro 200 now comes with less usage for new subscribers. The Pro tiers article says new subscriptions “that aren’t eligible for grandfathering include a lower usage allowance”, while the monthly price stays the same.
- Grandfathering covers anyone with an active Pro 200 subscription at any point from 22 September 2026 through 10 a.m. Pacific Time on 29 September 2026. They keep the previous allowance “through October 29, 2026”, and after that date the subscription “will move to the lower included usage allowance”.
- Ultrafast is a Pro 500 feature: “Among Pro plans, Ultrafast is available only on Pro 500”, and “At launch, buying credits on Pro 100 or Pro 200 does not unlock Ultrafast.” It uses the included allowance at 8 times the Standard rate.
- No tier takes UPI on the web or bills yearly. The article says “Pro is billed monthly. Annual billing and payment for multiple months in advance are not available.”
- Refunds follow the checkout. For App Store purchases the article says to “request a refund directly from Apple”, and for chatgpt.com or Google Play purchases to contact OpenAI Support.
For what Pro adds over Plus, tier by tier, the Plus vs Pro section of the Go vs Plus vs Pro comparison sets it out in dollars.
ChatGPT Business Price in India, per Seat
ChatGPT Business costs ₹1,800 per user a month billed annually, or ₹2,250 billed monthly, with a two-user minimum, on the logged-out pricing page on 16 October 2026. The India file marks both amounts tax-exclusive with GST at 18%, which makes them ₹2,124 and ₹2,655 a month once GST is added (my arithmetic).
| Smallest workspace, 2 users | Before GST | With 18% GST, if added at checkout |
|---|---|---|
| Billed monthly | ₹4,500 a month | ₹5,310 a month |
| Billed annually | ₹43,200 a year, paid up front | ₹50,976 a year |
From OpenAI’s Business billing article and the pricing page’s FAQ:
- Annual billing is a commitment for the year. The article works its annual example as seats x $20 x 12 months, and says that “On annual plans, added seats remain committed through the end of the current annual term.”
- Payment is by card. “ChatGPT Business supports credit and debit card payments”, and invoice billing, bank transfer and purchase orders “are not available for self-serve Business workspaces”. The multi-currency article rules out UPI for Business.
- On tax, the Go article sends “VAT or GST exemption” requests to this Business article, whose tax section says that “If you are in a region that levies VAT, you can self-identify as a business and enter your Tax ID at checkout.” It names VAT and not GST. The India file also sets
show_reverse_charge_disclaimerto true (the US file sets it to false), a flag that none of the OpenAI help articles I read explains. A GST-registered business should check at checkout whether a Tax ID field appears for India, and whether the total adds GST or shows a reverse-charge note. - A Premium seat is listed in the article at $125 a month, or $100 billed annually, with “5x more usage than Standard seats”. The logged-out India page showed no Premium price. The US file prices an entry named
business_proliteat those same $125 and $100, and the India file prices it at ₹11,250 a month or ₹9,000 billed annually, before GST, which is again ₹90 per dollar. Neither file calls it Premium, so the match is mine, not a published India price. - Nonprofits can get a discount: the pricing page’s FAQ says “nonprofits can now access up to a 75% discount on ChatGPT Business or ChatGPT Enterprise” through OpenAI for Nonprofits.
ChatGPT Price in India for Students
OpenAI’s pricing page, as served in India on 16 October 2026, has no student price on either of its tabs, Individual (Free, Go, Plus and Pro) or Business & Enterprise.
- ChatGPT Edu is bought by universities. The pricing page’s FAQ calls it “an affordable plan that lets universities deploy AI across their campus communities”, and the ChatGPT Edu page offers a “Contact sales” button in place of a price, so a student’s route to Edu runs through their university.
- OpenAI’s India education program also runs through institutions. Its Learning Accelerator announcement of 25 August 2025 planned to distribute “approximately half a million ChatGPT licenses and training to educators and students across India” over the following six months. Of the three partnerships it lists for that distribution, AICTE’s was to give “ChatGPT access to technical institutes nationwide”, and the other two were for school teachers. The page offers no way for a student to apply alone, so ask your institute whether it took part.
- OpenAI’s student offer is for the US. Its 2026 student page gives four free months of ChatGPT Plus, “An $80 value for eligible U.S. college students”, to students “enrolled at eligible U.S. degree-granting institutions”, and says “Claim by October 31.”
- The pricing page also shows a pop-up banner reading “For life sciences research, explore the Rosalind Academic Plan”. It links to OpenAI’s post of 15 October 2026, which describes a plan for research labs: principal investigators and lab leads apply on behalf of a lab, and the plan “is currently available to academic labs at U.S. universities”.
- The “Students” link in the pricing page’s menu, served in India, opens a page of example chats by “More than 25 college students across India”, with no price or offer on it.
A student in India buying ChatGPT individually pays the standard prices, starting at ₹399 for Go. Claude has a separate list: the Claude student routes open in India.
ChatGPT Subscription Price in India Since 2025: Change Log
The Internet Archive returned no copies of the India file when I checked, but it holds many of Apple’s India listing, so I read 28 archived copies of the listing, from 24 January 2025 to 11 October 2026, beside OpenAI’s release notes and help articles.
| Date | What changed | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 24 January 2025 | Apple’s India listing shows ChatGPT Plus at ₹1,999 and ChatGPT Pro at ₹19,900 | Archived listing |
| By 15 June 2025 | A second “ChatGPT Plus” item at ₹19,900 appears on the listing; the 15 May 2025 copy does not have it | 15 May copy, 15 June copy |
| 18 August 2025 | OpenAI launches Go for users in India only at ₹399 a month, GST included | Release notes |
| 7 September 2025 | Apple’s listing shows ChatGPT Go at ₹399 | Archived listing |
| 3 November 2025 | Release-notes entry: 12 months of Go at no cost for eligible users in India, an offer that had ended as of 21 January 2026 | Release notes |
| 9 April 2026 | OpenAI introduces a $100 Pro plan; Apple’s listing has “ChatGPT Pro 5x” at ₹10,699 in its 10 April copy and not in its 29 March copy | Release notes, 10 April copy, 29 March copy |
| 10 September 2026 | OpenAI pauses new sign-ups and upgrades to the $200 Pro plan | Pro tiers article, archived 19 September 2026 |

| 30 September 2026 | Apple’s listing shows ChatGPT Pro 500 at ₹52,900, and the $100 item, “Pro 5x” in the 29 September copy, appears as “Pro 100” | 30 September copy, 29 September copy |
| After 29 October 2026, scheduled | Grandfathered Pro 200 subscriptions move to the lower allowance; the previous allowance applies through 29 October | Pro tiers article |
Has the ChatGPT Price in India Gone Up?
Not on the two plans Apple’s India listing carried in January 2025. In all 28 archived copies and on the live listing, Plus was ₹1,999 and a Pro item sat at ₹19,900, listed as ChatGPT Pro up to the 22 February 2026 copy, Pro 20x from the 29 March to the 28 September 2026 copies, and Pro 200 from the 29 September 2026 copy. OpenAI’s archived Pro tiers article calls that plan “the ChatGPT Pro $200 plan (Pro 20X)”.
Since January 2025, OpenAI has added plans (Go, Pro 100 and Pro 500) and given new Pro 200 subscriptions a lower allowance at the same price.
One of OpenAI’s own pages lags behind these changes. On 16 October 2026 the multi-currency article still described “the pause on new ChatGPT Pro $200 (Pro 20X) subscriptions”, which the 29 September release note had ended.
ChatGPT Subscription Price in India: Recheck Before You Pay
The ChatGPT subscription price in India had one outlier on 16 October 2026: Go, at ₹42.27 per dollar before GST, against ₹84.32 to ₹90.67 for every other plan. Prices and allowances change, and OpenAI’s pages do not always agree, so recheck these on the day you subscribe:
- chatgpt.com/pricing, logged out, on both tabs, for Go, Plus, the Pro starting price and Business.
- The India file at the address in the sources table, for the Pro 200 and Pro 500 web prices and the tax flags.
- Apple’s India listing, for the in-app prices and the second Plus item.
- OpenAI’s Pro tiers article after 29 October 2026, when grandfathered Pro 200 subscriptions move to the lower allowance.
- The multi-currency billing article, for UPI by plan.
Last, log in and read the amount on your own upgrade screen, which shows the price for your account.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the ChatGPT Plus price in India per month?
₹1,999 a month with GST included, on chatgpt.com and on Apple's India App Store, as of 16 October 2026. Before 18% GST that is ₹1,694.07, and OpenAI bills Plus monthly only.
Is GST included in the ChatGPT price in India?
For Go, Plus and Pro, yes: the undocumented India price file that OpenAI's pricing page loaded on 16 October 2026 marks those prices tax-inclusive with GST at 18%, and Google Play's India listing says all its prices include GST. Business is quoted before GST, so a seat at ₹1,800 a month billed annually comes to ₹2,124 once 18% is added, and ₹2,250 billed monthly comes to ₹2,655.
Can I pay for ChatGPT with UPI?
On chatgpt.com, only for Go and Plus: OpenAI's multi-currency billing article says UPI is not offered for Pro or Business. If you subscribe in the iOS or Android app, Apple or Google bills you, and both list UPI among their payment methods in India.
Is there a yearly ChatGPT plan in India?
Not for Go, Plus or Pro, which OpenAI bills monthly only, so a year of Plus on the web is 12 payments of ₹1,999, or ₹23,988. Business has an annual plan at ₹1,800 per user a month before GST, paid for the year up front. Apple's India listing also shows a second Plus item at ₹19,900 without stating its billing period.
Is ChatGPT Go free in India?
Not for new sign-ups: OpenAI's release notes say India's offer of 12 free months of Go had ended as of 21 January 2026, and Go is ₹399 a month on the web.
