Lovable vs Bolt: Same $25 Price, Different Billing Models

Lovable vs Bolt on billing as of November 2026: both Pro plans start at $25, but Lovable pools credits per workspace while Bolt Teams bills tokens per member.

Renaissance-style study of an orrery and geometric instruments on a scholar's table, a red thread tracing an orbit

A common shortcut in the Lovable vs Bolt debate says price cancels out: both Pro plans cost $25 a month, so you pick on output quality. The list prices do match. As of 4 November 2026, Lovable’s subscription plans docs price Pro at $25 a month for 100 credits, and Bolt’s pricing page prices Pro at $25 a month, starting at 10M tokens.

The two plans measure that $25 in different units, keep it for different lengths of time and share it differently. Lovable’s own Bolt comparison page says “Both Lovable and Bolt use credit-based pricing models”, but Bolt bills in tokens. On annual billing, Bolt’s entry Pro plan costs $216 a year against Lovable’s $250. With a second person, the comparison flips: Bolt Teams charges $30 for each member who prompts, and Lovable charges nothing per seat.

I read the pricing pages and help docs of both vendors, plus v0’s, on 4 November 2026. I have not run the same prompt through both builders, so nothing here ranks the apps they generate. My view after reading them is that Lovable vs Bolt is a billing-model choice before it is an output-quality choice: who on your team prompts, and how unevenly, decides which one costs less.

Is Lovable or Bolt Better?

Lovable costs less when several people prompt from one budget that fits its 100- or 200-credit tier. Bolt costs less for one person on annual billing, and its price per token falls on bigger tiers. One rule per reader:

  • One marketer, one campaign site, light use: start on either free plan. Bolt Free allows 1M tokens a month (300K a day), Lovable Free gives 5 build credits a day up to 30 a month, and of the two only Bolt lets a free user edit the code by hand.
  • A team where three people prompt: Lovable, unless the team needs the 400-credit tier ($100 against Bolt’s $90). One workspace plan funds every member from a shared credit pool, while Bolt Teams bills $30 a month per prompting member and keeps each member’s tokens separate.
  • One builder, two reviewers: roughly a tie. Bolt Teams with one paid seat and two free viewers is $30, and Lovable Pro is $25 with unlimited members, though Lovable’s reviewers can also spend the shared credits.
  • One heavy solo builder with uneven months: Bolt. Its $100 Pro tier buys 37.5% more tokens per dollar than its $25 tier and its reload tokens never expire, while Lovable’s first four Pro tiers (100 to 800 credits) all cost $0.25 per credit.
  • A team already shipping on Vercel: v0, priced per user in dollar credits at a published rate per model, from $30 per user a month.

Lovable, Bolt and v0: What Each Plan Meters

Every figure below comes from the three vendors’ own pages, read on 4 November 2026, in US dollars. v0’s pricing page states that its prices “exclude value-added tax (VAT), goods and services tax (GST), and other applicable taxes”. Prices and limits change, so check each link before you pay.

How Lovable Credits Work

Lovable spends one credit balance on three jobs: building, running the published app on Lovable Cloud, and AI features inside the app. Lovable’s pricing page says the cost of a build message varies with task complexity in Default Mode, and Plan Mode costs “1 credit per message”. It also prints example prompts with their cost, and the docs print a near-identical table with one figure changed:

Example promptPricing pageCredits and usage docsPrompts per 100 credits (my arithmetic)
Make the button gray0.500.50200
Remove the footer0.900.90111
Add authentication1.201.2083
Build a landing page with images1.702.0058 at 1.70, 50 at 2.00

The difference in the last row is Lovable’s own: the pricing page and the docs disagree on the landing-page example. Both call these examples, so treat them as a guide rather than a quote.

What else decides how far 100 credits go:

  • Daily build credits: Pro and Business add 5 build credits a day on top of the plan’s monthly credits. The plans docs say Pro and Business “do not have a monthly cap for daily build credits”, and the pricing page adds that “some regional plans cap these at 30 per month”. The daily credits expire at the end of each day.
  • Expiry: Monthly plan credits roll over while you stay subscribed, then expire two months after issue on monthly billing, or one month after the annual period ends on annual billing.
  • Linear tiers: On Pro, 100 credits cost $25, 200 cost $50 and 400 cost $100, the same $0.25 per credit the credits docs give as Pro’s plan credit rate. A top-up costs more, at $0.30 a credit.
  • Hosting from the same balance: The pricing page says hosting for “smaller or new apps” is usually covered by the included Cloud grant. Apps with significant traffic draw on the same credits you build with.
  • Temporary grants: The credits docs say monthly Cloud, AI and connector grants are “a temporary offering and subject to change”.

How Bolt Tokens Work

Bolt’s pricing FAQ says it spends tokens “when it reads your prompts and project files, makes a plan, or writes code”. The tokens help article adds the detail that matters for budgeting: “Most of your token usage comes from Bolt reading, understanding, and syncing your project files, so larger projects use more tokens per message.” The same prompt costs more as the project grows, and neither the pricing page nor the tokens article gives a per-prompt token figure.

Bolt’s billing help shows how the Pro tiers scale in its upgrade examples:

Bolt Pro tier, monthlyPriceTokens a monthTokens per dollar (my arithmetic)
Pro 10M$2510M400K
Pro 50$5026M520K
Pro 100$10055M550K

So the $100 tier buys 37.5% more tokens per dollar than the $25 tier (550K against 400K). Lovable’s $100 tier buys exactly 4 times the credits of its $25 tier.

The rules that shape a Bolt bill:

  • Unused monthly tokens roll over for up to two months while you hold a paid plan, and Bolt spends them first-in, first-out, oldest bucket first.
  • If you cancel, “you lose access to all allocated tokens (including rollover tokens) when the billing cycle ends”, unless you resubscribe before they expire.
  • Reload tokens are sold only on the highest individual monthly Pro plan or any annual Pro plan, and “Any tokens purchased as a reload do not expire.”
  • On Free, the 300K daily cap resets each day without carrying over. When you hit it, you can still edit the code by hand in Code view, “which doesn’t use tokens”.

Lovable vs Bolt Pricing for a Team of Three

For a team, the matching $25 price stops being a fair comparison. Bolt’s pricing page says of Teams: “You pay per team member”, “Tokens aren’t shared between members”, and free members “can’t send prompts”. Its Teams billing article confirms that each paid member gets a monthly allotment set by the subscription tier. Lovable’s pricing page says the opposite on seats: “plans are priced by the credits they include, not by seats”, and “everyone you invite into that workspace shares its credits”.

A three-person team for one month, monthly billing, US dollar list prices:

Team setupLovableBoltv0
All three prompt$25, $50 or $100 for one pool of 100, 200 or 400 credits3 x $30 = $90 on Teams, three separate allowances3 x $30 = $90 on Plus, $30 of credits per user
One builder, two reviewers$25 on Pro; reviewers can prompt from the same pool$30 on Teams: one paid seat, two free viewersBilled per user; free viewer seats not described on the pricing page
One member runs out mid-monthThe pool covers them while credits remainA teammate’s unused tokens stay with that teammate; the Teams billing article says admins can add more tokensPurchased credits are shared across the team
Stopping one person over-spendingOwners set a default monthly credit limit and per-member overridesNot needed: each seat has its own allowanceMonthly credits are individual per user

On Bolt and v0, headcount sets the bill. On Lovable, total usage sets it, and three people can share a $25 plan if their combined prompting fits inside 100 credits plus the 5 daily build credits. If they need 400 credits, Lovable’s $100 is more than Bolt’s $90 for three seats. Bolt’s model has one advantage for a team: one heavy user cannot drain everyone else’s allowance, a risk Lovable handles with per-member limits that admins have to set.

Lovable vs Bolt for a Website: Hosting, Domains and Badges

For a marketing site, the hosting rules affect the bill more than the token or credit count. From Bolt’s hosting plans article and Lovable’s plan docs:

Website needLovableBolt
Free hosting limitFor most small or new apps, covered by the 20-credit monthly Cloud grant10 GB bandwidth and 333,333 requests a month, which Bolt says “typically supports around 10,000-15,000 monthly visits”
Over the free limitOn paid plans, usage draws on the credit balanceFree sites “stop serving content” until the next cycle; Pro can pay as you go
Custom domainPro and upPro and up
Builder badge removedPro and upPro and up
Edit code by handPro and up (Git sync on every plan)Code view, Free plan included

Bolt’s pricing page also lists “SEO boosting” under Pro, with no description of what it does. Whether a page built in either tool can rank depends on what HTML the crawler receives, which I covered in why vibe-coded sites often fail to rank, including Lovable’s server-side rendering change. If you would rather own static files outright, I built this site with Claude Code on Astro, and the build record for this site shows what that route takes.

Bolt vs v0: Where v0 Fits

Each v0 plan includes dollar credits, and v0 spends them at per-model token rates published on its pricing page, per 1M tokens:

v0 modelInputOutput
v0 Mini$0.20$1.20
v0 Pro$2$10
v0 Max$5$25
v0 Max Fast$10$50

Against Bolt’s $25 Pro, v0 starts higher: the cheapest paid plan open to new users is Plus at $30 per user, because v0’s docs say the $20 Premium plan “is no longer available to new users”. Plus adds “$2 of free daily credits on login per user” on top of the $30 monthly credit. And v0’s docs let ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers connect their account to cover eligible responses from OpenAI models, though “A v0 credit balance is still required”. The Plus card also shows $90 struck through next to $30, and the page does not say what the $90 refers to.

On Lovable vs v0: both appear on Claude Design’s send-to list, so if your design starts there, my Claude Design vs Claude Code comparison covers where the handoff goes. If Replit is also on your list, it sells Core at different prices by checkout; Replit Core’s price at each checkout has the numbers.

Switching Between Lovable and Bolt

Moving a project from Lovable to Bolt has a documented route. Bolt’s help center has an Import from Lovable page: sync the Lovable project to GitHub, then import that repository into Bolt. Lovable’s plan docs list Git sync with GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket on every plan, Free included. Replit is the other common move, and its Import app from Lovable route is covered in Replit vs Lovable.

Before you switch, check what happens to the balance you leave behind:

On cancellingLovableBolt
Unused plan allowanceUsable until the billing period ends; unused paid credits “will reactivate” if you re-subscribe before they expireAll tokens, including rollover, are lost at the end of the billing cycle unless you resubscribe before they expire
Bought extrasTop-ups last 12 months from purchaseReload tokens do not expire

Lovable vs Bolt Comes Down to Who Holds the Budget

The two Pro plans share a $25 entry price and little else in how they bill. Lovable meters one pool of credits per workspace that any member can spend. Bolt meters tokens per person, and its rate per token improves on bigger tiers. Pick between them on who pays for each prompt first, and run the output test after that.

Lovable’s docs call parts of its pricing temporary and v0 is sunsetting its Premium plan, so re-check all three pages on the day you buy. Before you open a trial, write down how many people on your team will send prompts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Bolt cheaper than Lovable?

For one person, the two cost the same on monthly billing: Pro is $25 a month on both, as of November 2026. On annual billing, Bolt's billing help prices its 10M-token Pro plan at $216 a year, against $250 for Lovable Pro. For a team, Bolt Teams charges $30 per member, while a Lovable plan has no seat fee, so for three people Lovable's 100- or 200-credit plan ($25 or $50) costs less than three Bolt seats ($90), and its 400-credit plan ($100) costs more.

Do Bolt tokens roll over?

On paid plans, yes. Unused monthly tokens stay in your balance for up to two months while the subscription is active, and the oldest tokens are spent first. Free plan tokens do not roll over, and tokens bought as a reload do not expire.

Do Lovable credits expire?

Yes. On monthly billing, plan credits expire two months after they are issued; on annual billing, one month after the annual period ends. Top-up credits last 12 months, and the 5 daily build credits expire at the end of each day.

What is the difference between Bolt and v0?

Bolt bills in tokens from a monthly allowance, with Pro starting at $25 for 10M tokens. v0 bills in dollar credits, spent at a published rate per model. The cheapest v0 plan a new user can buy is Plus, at $30 per user a month with $30 of credits each.

Is Lovable or Bolt better for beginners?

On the free plans, Bolt allows 1M tokens a month with a 300K daily cap and lets you edit code by hand in Code view without spending tokens. Lovable Free grants 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month, and has no code editing. A beginner who wants to read and change the code gets more from Bolt Free. One who only prompts can start on either.
